After a one-year hiatus, The Greenbrier Classic returned with its smallest audience in four years.
Final round coverage of the PGA Tour Greenbrier Classic earned a 1.5 final rating and 2.2 million viewers on CBS — down 25% in ratings and 23% in viewership from 2015 (2.0, 3.0M). Last year’s tournament was cancelled due to flooding.
Xander Schauffele‘s win ranks as the lowest rated and least-watched final round of the tournament since 2013 (1.0, 1.5M).
Of the 23 final round windows on broadcast this season, Sunday’s was the 15th to hit a multi-year low in ratings and/or viewership. That excludes the Houston Open in April, which was tape delayed.
Third round action on Saturday pulled a 1.2 and 1.7 million — down a tick and 3% respectively from 2015 (1.3, 1.8M). Lead-in coverage on Golf Channel earned a 0.37 and 521,000 (-41%) on Saturday and a 0.45 and 683,000 (-27%) on Sunday.
