After a record-low start, Notre Dame turned in a better performance on NBC last weekend.
NBC earned a 2.4 rating and 4.1 million viewers for Georgia-Notre Dame last Saturday night, down 17% in ratings and 18% in viewership from its second telecast last season, which also aired in primetime — Michigan State-Notre Dame (2.9, 5.0M).
Compared to its second telecast in 2015, an afternoon Georgia Tech-Notre Dame matchup, ratings were flat and viewership increased 10% from 3.7 million.
Though down from last year, Saturday’s telecast ranks fourth out of the 15 primetime Notre Dame telecasts on NBC (dates back to 2009) — trailing only games against Michigan or Michigan State. For the weekend, it trailed only the competing Oklahoma-Ohio State game on ABC (4.6, 8.1M) as the most-watched college football telecast on any network.
The performance was a marked improvement over Notre Dame’s season opener against Temple, which tied the team’s lowest ever rating on NBC (1.0).
