Recent sports TV ratings, including strong numbers for Yankees-Red Sox, Thursday’s Stanley Cup playoff games, and declines for last weekend’s auto racing.
Yankees-Red Sox Ratings Up Double-Digits
The previous night, another game between the rivals had a 0.6 and 922,000 (+61%) on ESPN. Outside of Opening Day, it was the most-watched weekday game so far this season.
In other action, ESPN drew a 0.4 rating and 636,000 (-65%) for Brewers-Cardinals last Monday, and a 1.0 and 1.6 million (-9%) for Mets-Nationals on Sunday Night Baseball last weekend. Over on FS1, last Saturday’s Cubs-Brewers game had a 0.3 and 467,000 (+30%).
On a local level, last Sunday’s Orioles-Yankees game delivered a 4.69 rating and 405,000 viewers on YES Network, its highest rated weekend Yankees game since 2012.
Avs-Preds Opener Up Big
Earlier in the night, Maple Leafs-Bruins had a 0.37 (-18%) and 586,000 (-24%). Over on USA Network, Blue Jackets-Capitals scored a 0.31 and 484,000 (-23%) while Sharks-Ducks had a 0.21 and 321,000.
NHRA, NASCAR Xfinity, IndyCar, All Down Last Weekend
In other racing action, the NASCAR Xfinity Series from Texas scored a 0.95 rating and 1.5 million viewers on the FOX broadcast network last Saturday, down 15% in ratings and 12% in viewership from last year (1.12, 1.7M) but up 36% and 26% respectively from 2016 on FS1 (0.7, 1.2M).
Finally, last Saturday’s IndyCar race from Phoenix had just 253,000 viewers on NBCSN (-26%).
