In one of the quietest weeks of the year, a rematch of the 2019 Women’s World Cup Final dominated the ratings charts.
Last week’s United States-Netherlands FIFA Women’s World Cup group play match averaged 6.43 million viewers on FOX (plus 1.17 million on Telemundo and Universo), easily the most-watched sportscast of the week. Regional Major League Baseball on FOX ranked a distant second with 2.65 million (Yankees-Orioles, Rays-Astros or Red Sox-Giants), the largest MLB audience of the season on any network.
NASCAR placed third with 2.43 million for Sunday’s race at Richmond, up from last year (2.39M) and the largest audience for the season’s second race there since 2016 (2.71M).
In other action, UFC 291 prelims averaged a combined 1.98 million viewers across ABC (1.12M), ESPN (837K) and ESPN Deportes (25K), the largest linear UFC audience since ESPN began carrying the series.
The PGA Tour Twin Cities stop averaged just 1.7 million viewers on Sunday, the smallest final round audience in the short history of the event.
The F1 Belgian Grand Prix averaged 1.17 million on ESPN, surpassing last year’s audience of 1.05 million as the largest ever for the race.
