Ratings increased dramatically for last week’s Yankees/Red Sox game on FOX, but the numbers remained below the rivals’ first FOX appearance last season. In other news, ratings increased for the PGA Tour last week, and were mixed for the Champions Tour.
- Big Jump For Yanks/Sox on FOX: Regional Major League Baseball action featuring Yankees/Red Sox in 91% of markets drew a 2.2 final rating on FOX last Saturday, up 47% from coverage featuring Braves/Mets last year (1.5), and up 38% from coverage featuring Yankees/Angels in 2010 (1.6). Compared to the first Yankees/Red Sox telecast on FOX last season, however, the 2.2 rating is down 15%. (Sports Business Daily)
- Ratings Up For Valero Texas Open: Final round coverage of the PGA Tour Valero Texas Open drew a 1.4 final rating on CBS last Sunday, up 17% from last year (1.2), and up a tick from 2010 (1.3), when the event took place in May. Third round action the previous day drew a 1.0 final rating, up a tick from last year (0.9), and up 25% from 2010 (0.8). (Sports Business Daily)
- Ratings Mixed For Champions Tour: Also last Sunday, final round coverage of the Champions Tour Liberty Mutual Legends of Golf drew a 0.7 final rating on CBS, up a tick from last year (0.6), but down a tick from 2010 (0.8). The previous day, third round coverage drew a mere 0.4 final rating, down a tick from last year (0.5), and down 33% from 2010 (0.6). (Sports Business Daily)
