When the NHL season begins Tuesday, viewers will know exactly where to go to watch games on national television. Local games are another story.
The NHL faces the same local broadcast instability that has vexed Major League Baseball and the NBA. During the offseason, the NHL unveiled a centralized production hub providing support for local broadcasts specifically under team control, partially overseen by NHL chief media officer/senior EVP David Proper.
Six teams this season — the Anaheim Ducks, Carolina Hurricanes, Columbus Blue Jackets, Dallas Stars, Minnesota Wild and St. Louis Blues — will fall under that umbrella, with each having an over-the-air presence, distribution through carriers like Charter and Fubo, and a direct-to-subscriber streaming option through Prime Video.
Other franchises have changed their streaming distribution, including two of the NHL-produced teams that had formerly been on Victory+. Regional broadcasts for five NHL teams will be available to stream on DAZN this season, which has steadily picked up U.S. local sports rights over the last few months. MLB Local Media is providing production and distribution support for Detroit SportsNet, which will air Red Wings games for the first time this season.
As a reminder, the NHL is the only one of the four major U.S. professional sports leagues to televise first-round playoff games on regional television.
With the 2026-27 regular season set to begin, Sports Media Watch has compiled a guide to finding and accessing local broadcasts for the 32 NHL franchises

Anaheim Ducks
NHL Productions will produce Anaheim Ducks regional broadcasts for the first time this season after games previously aired through Victory+. While Ducks games are now streaming on Prime Video, they will not require an additional subscription to view beyond a standard Amazon Prime membership ($15/month or $140/year). The platform will be the exclusive streaming home for 12 regional broadcasts, but there will also be distribution across other platforms such as Charter and Fubo.
The Ducks will also have a robust presence on over-the-air television with 65 of 77 regional games broadcasting across FOX Los Angeles and KTTV FOX 11. This will mark the third consecutive season in which a selection of Ducks games will be simulcast on broadcast television.
Ducks television broadcasts will feature play-by-play announcer John Ahlers with analysts Brian Hayward and Guy Hebert. Audio broadcasts through Ducks Stream, which does not have a terrestrial radio home, include play-by-play voice Aaron Cooney, analyst Emerson Etem and host Alexis Downie.
The Ducks finished third in the Pacific division with a 43-33-6 record, good for 92 points and the organization’s first Stanley Cup Playoff appearance in eight years. The season begins on the road with an Opening Night matchup against the Vegas Golden Knights on Friday, Oct. 2 at 10 PM ET.

Boston Bruins
New England Sports Network has aired Boston Bruins regional game broadcasts for more than four decades. In-market streaming of Bruins games remains available on NESN 360 for $30/month or $240/year, a subscription that also includes access to Boston Red Sox regional game broadcasts. Beasley-owned 98.5 The Sports Hub is entering its 17th year as the flagship radio home of Bruins hockey.
Television broadcasts of Bruins games on NESN feature play-by-play announcer Judd Sirott with analyst Andy Brickley and rinkside reporters Adam Pellerin and Andrew Raycroft. Pellerin will also work as an occasional analyst and host for NESN, while Sophia Jurksztowicz returns as the primary host for the broadcasts. Ryan Johnston and Bob Beers will work together on Bruins radio broadcasts on 98.5 The Sports Hub for a third consecutive season.
The Bruins finished fourth in the Atlantic division last season with a 45-27-10 record, compiling a total of 100 points but falling in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Boston will try to secure its first Stanley Cup championship since 2010-11, opening the season at home on Tuesday, Sept. 29 at 8 PM ET against the New York Rangers.

Buffalo Sabres
DAZN is the new streaming home of Buffalo Sabres hockey on MSG Networks after games had previously been available through The Gotham Sports App. Sabres hockey, which airs on a regional basis primarily in the western New York region, is available to view with DAZN for $30/month, a subscription that also includes access to New York Knicks basketball. MSG Networks has broadcast Sabres hockey for the last two decades.
Television broadcasts of Sabres hockey on MSG Networks feature the longtime duo of play-by-play announcer Dan Dunleavy and analyst Rob Ray, along with host Brian Duff and analyst Martin Biron. Flagship radio station WGR airs simulcasts the television feed on air but has other talent such as reporter Paul Hamilton and postgame host Brian Koziol.
The Sabres finished atop the Atlantic division last season with a 50-23-9 record, totaling 109 points and the organization’s first playoff appearance in 14 seasons. While the team ultimately fell in the second round, there is hope and optimism that the team can contend for a Stanley Cup title this season. The journey begins with an Opening Night matchup on Thursday, Oct. 1 at 7 PM ET against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Calgary Flames
Calgary Flames regional broadcasts have been airing on Sportsnet networks for nearly three decades, and the organization recently inked an extension with the company through 2035. Sportsnet West is the primary channel airing Flames games, which also televises Edmonton Oilers hockey throughout the regular season as well.
In-market streaming of Flames hockey is available through the Sportsnet+ direct-to-consumer service, which offers a standard subscription for $35/month or $270/year. The premium version includes access to out-of-market games for Canadian NHL teams and U.S.-team matchups priced at $45/month or $345/year.
Flames television broadcasts include new analyst Kevin Sawyer working with play-by-play announcer Jon Abbott and host Brendan Parker. Live game broadcasts on QR Calgary 770 AM consist of play-by-play announcer Derek Wills, analyst Meaghan Mikkelson and host Pat Steinberg.
The Flames finished second to last in the Pacific division last year with a 34-39-9 record (77 points), falling short of a playoff appearance. Calgary opens its final season at the Scotiabank Saddledome on Thursday, Oct. 1 at 9 PM ET against the Seattle Kraken.

Carolina Hurricanes
NHL Productions will produce Carolina Hurricanes regional broadcasts for the first time this season through the Hurricanes Hockey Network. The team established the RSN during the offseason, providing a new broadcast home for regional games after previously airing on FanDuel Sports Network Southeast. Of course, the FanDuel-branded RSNs were owned by Main Street Sports Group, which announced plans to “wind down” its operations following the previous season barring “a strategic transaction.”
In-market streaming of Hurricanes hockey will take place through Prime Video, albeit under a different arrangement than some of the other teams. Although Hurricanes broadcasts do not require a paid Amazon Prime subscription to access, viewing the games costs $20/month or $100/year. Hurricanes television broadcasts will be available to view through Spectrum and Fubo throughout the season, and the team is also placing 10 games over the air on WRAL and FOX 50, primarily on Saturday nights.
The Hurricanes Hockey Network will maintain the on-air talent roster of play-by-play announcer Mike Maniscalco, analyst Tripp Tracy, host Hanna Yates and studio analyst Shane Willis. The live game broadcasts are simulcast on 99.9 FM The Fan, owned by Capitol Broadcasting Company, with pregame/postgame host Adam Gold.
The defending Stanley Cup champions finished the 2025-26 NHL regular season atop the Metropolitan division with 113 points on a 53-22-7 overall record. Carolina begins its title defense with banner night on Tuesday, Sept. 29 at 5 PM ET against the Florida Panthers, who, ironically enough, won the preceding two Stanley Cup championships.

Chicago Blackhawks
Chicago Sports Network will air Chicago Blackhawks regional broadcasts for a third consecutive season after games were previously broadcast through NBC Sports Chicago. The RSN — which is owned by Standard Media in partnership with Jerry Reinsdorf and the Wirtz Corporation — has broadened its distribution since its launch in November 2024.
The network also has a direct-to-consumer streaming product that provides access to Blackhawks games for $20/month. In addition, CHSN sells an all-access plan for $30/month or $350/year that includes Blackhawks, Bulls and White Sox regional game broadcasts, along with other programming.
Blackhawks television broadcasts on Chicago Sports Network feature play-by-play announcer Rick Ball and analyst Darren Pang for a third consecutive season. Audio broadcasts on WGN Radio feature play-by-play voice John Wiedeman with analyst Steve Konroyd and host Charlie Roumeliotis.
The Blackhawks missed the Stanley Cup Playoffs for a sixth consecutive season last year, finishing with a 29-39-14 record (72 points). Chicago begins the new season on Tuesday, Sept. 29 with a matchup against the Vegas Golden Knights at 10:30 PM ET.

Colorado Avalanche
Colorado Avalanche regional game broadcasts remain on Altitude Sports for a 22nd consecutive year, one of the longest ongoing television runs in the league. The regional sports network is owned by Kroenke Sports and Entertainment, which has ownership over the team itself in addition to the Denver Nuggets and Ball Arena.
Avalanche games are available to stream through Altitude+, a direct-to-consumer service that launched ahead of the 2024-25 season. Subscriptions are priced at $20/month or $200/year and also include access to Nuggets regional broadcasts. In addition, 20 games will be simulcast over the air across 9NEWS and KTVD.

Columbus Blue Jackets
The new Blue Jackets Hockey Network will carry Columbus Blue Jackets games this season, replacing the defunct FanDuel Sports Network Ohio. The team coordinated with the league in creating the new network, part of a broader production and distribution partnership.
In working with NHL Productions, Blue Jackets games will be available to stream through Prime Video. Consumers can view Blue Jackets broadcasts through the service for $20/month or $100/year. A paid Amazon Prime subscription is not necessary to watch the Blue Jackets. The Blue Jackets will also have an over-the-air component for game broadcasts this season that has yet to be announced.
Blue Jackets television broadcasts are set to include play-by-play announcer Steve Mears, analyst Jody Shelley and reporter/host Dave Maetzold, along with host Brian Giesenschlag and studio analyst Jean-Luc Grand-Pierre. Tegna-owned 97.1 The Fan simulcasts the television broadcast feed on radio with host Dylan Tyrer.
The Blue Jackets finished fifth in the Metropolitan division last year with a 40-30-12 record (92 points); however, the team missed the Stanley Cup Playoffs for a sixth consecutive season. Columbus begins the new season at home against the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday, Oct. 1 at 7 PM ET.

Dallas Stars
After games aired on Victory+ for the last two seasons, the Dallas Stars are moving their regional broadcasts to a hybrid model that includes over-the-air television coverage and in-market streaming. The Stars, who were the first team to partner with Victory+, officially departed the platform earlier this year as it lost most of its sports rights. Team president/CEO Brad Alberts said to reporters that the organization did not receive “98%” of the money it had been owed over the past year and called the situation “gut-wrenching.”
The team will air 17 regular-season games across FOX 4 and FOX4+ in the Dallas-Fort Worth region, while in-market streaming will now be available through Prime Video, available to watch within the team’s broadcast territory with a paid Amazon Prime subscription. “We did everything we could to try to save this, to try to protect our fan base, so they did not have to change and did not have to get an Amazon Prime account,” Alberts said. “….I feel for people that now have to get an Amazon Prime account.”
Stars television broadcasts on Prime Video feature play-by-play announcer Josh Bogorad and analyst Daryl Reaugh with host Brien Rea and studio analyst Brent Severyn. Cumulus-owned Sportsradio 96.7 and 1310 The Ticket simulcasts the television broadcast on radio with host Michael Dixon and analyst Bruce LeVine.
The Stars finished second in the Central division last season with 112 points on a 50-20-12 record, but the team lost in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Dallas begins the regular season with a home matchup against the St. Louis Blues on Friday, Oct. 2 at 9 PM ET.

Detroit Red Wings
Detroit Red Wings regional broadcasts will be distributed through Detroit SportsNet, a network established by the team’s parent company Ilitch Sports & Entertainment, which also owns the MLB Tigers. DSN, which replaces the defunct FanDuel Sports Network Detroit, will be available through MLB Local Media.
In-market streaming subscriptions to Detroit SportsNet are available for $20/month or $190/year, which also includes access to Tigers baseball. Users can view games through the Detroit SportsNet tab located within the MLB App.
Red Wings television broadcasters Ken Daniels and Mickey Redmond are beginning their 30th season working together. Reporters on the television broadcasts will include Daniella Bruce, Logan Reever and Trevor Thompson. Audacy-owned 97.1 The Ticket, which has been the team’s flagship radio home since 2001, has featured play-by-play voice Ken Kal with analyst Stu Grimson.

Edmonton Oilers
Edmonton Oilers regional broadcasts have aired on Sportsnet networks for more than two decades, and the team currently has a deal with the company that continues through the 2035-36 season. The majority of games air on the Sportsnet West channel, which also televises Calgary Flames games during the NHL season.
In-market streaming of Oilers hockey is available through the Sportsnet+ direct-to-consumer service, which offers a standard subscription for $35/month or $270/year. The premium version includes access to out-of-market games for Canadian NHL teams and U.S.-team matchups priced at $45/month or $345/year.
Oilers television broadcasts on Sportsnet West feature play-by-play announcer Jack Michaels with analyst Louie DeBrusk and host Gene Principe for a fifth consecutive year. Radio broadcasts airing on 880 CHED feature regional play-by-play voice Cam Moon with analyst Bob Stauffer.
The Oilers finished another stellar regular season last year with a 41-30-11 record, good for a second-place finish in the Pacific division with 93 points. Yet the team has been unable to capture its first Stanley Cup title since 1990, falling short this year with a first-round elimination. The team opens the regular season on Tuesday, Sept. 29 with a home matchup against the Vancouver Canucks at 10 PM ET.

Florida Panthers
Florida Panthers regional broadcasts will air on The Spot – South Florida 39 for a third consecutive season under a partnership with Scripps Sports. The games will air on a variety of Scripps-owned networks in South Florida depending on the region.
In-market streaming of Panthers games will take place through Panthers+ for a third consecutive season. The direct-to-consumer service, which launched in September 2024, under an arrangement with ViewLift and Scripps Sports, is priced at $70/year.
Panthers television broadcasts feature play-by-play announcer Steve Goldstein with analyst Randy Moller and reporter Katie Engleson. Radio broadcasts on Audacy-owned WQAM consist of play-by-play announcer Doug Plagens and analyst Bill Lindsay.
After securing back-to-back Stanley Cup championships, the Panthers fell short of a three-peat last season with a seventh-place finish in the Atlantic division (40-38-4, 84 points). While Angels games stream through Angels.TV on the MLB App, Kings broadcasts will be accessible direct-to-consumer using DAZN in market. Subscriptions to DAZN for Kings games are priced at $20/month or $130/season.
Kings broadcasts will feature play-by-play announcer John Kelly and analyst Jim Fox with reporter Carrlyn Bathe for a second consecutive season. There are a variety of other analysts who will also work on the broadcasts this season, including Tony Granato, Alec Martinez and Jarret Stoll. The radio broadcast team on ESPN LA has included play-by-play announcer Josh Schaefer and analyst Daryl Evans.
The Kings finished fourth in the Pacific division last season with a 35-27-20 record (90 points), but the team lost in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs for a fifth consecutive season. Los Angeles begins the new season with a matchup on the road against the Colorado Avalanche on Wednesday, Sept. 30 at 10 PM ET.

Minnesota Wild
Wild+ is the new home of Minnesota Wild hockey this season after broadcasts previously aired on FanDuel Sports Network North. The network, which is owned and operated by the team, will have multiple distribution touchpoints, including Prime Video for streaming. A subscription to Wild+ will cost $20/month or $100/year and will not require a paid Amazon Prime membership. KFAN, the flagship station of the Wild, will broadcast games including play-by-play announcer Joe O’Donnell, analyst Tom Reid and host Kevin Falness.
The Wild surpassed the 100-point threshold last season, finishing third in the Central division with a 46-24-12 record (104 points), but the team was eliminated in the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Minnesota begins the new season on Thursday, Oct. 1 with a road matchup against the Nashville Predators at 8 PM ET.

Montreal Canadiens
English-language broadcasts of Montreal Canadiens hockey have aired on TSN2 since the 2017-18 season after games had previously aired on Rogers Sportsnet East. French-language Canadiens hockey broadcasts are televised by RDS, which has held the rights exclusively since 2002.

The premium version is set at $30/month or $250/year, and both tiers include access to other sporting events. Montreal will try to win its first Stanley Cup championship since 1993, starting with an Opening Night tilt against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday, Sept. 29 at 7 PM ET.

Nashville Predators
Unlike several of their counterparts, the Nashville Predators moved games fully over the air this season after games had aired on FanDuel Sports Network South. The team inked a deal with Scripps Sports that places regional game broadcasts on The Spot – Nashville 28, which is accessible to consumers using a broadcast antenna. This will mark the first time in franchise history that Predators games will not be televised by a traditional regional sports network.
In-market streaming of Predators hockey will take place through the team’s official app as part of a partnership with ViewLift for $74/season. The Predators are one of a few NHL teams who are using a proprietary application for streaming local games rather than outsourcing the product to another company.

Radio broadcasts on 102.5 The Game have featured play-by-play announcers Pete Weber and Max Herz, along with analysts Jayson More and Hal Gill.
