The 14.7/28 for the Packers’ victory was off 8% from a 15.9 for last year’s comparable Vikings/Cowboys game on FOX. Meanwhile, the 7.9/17 for early game coverage was down 13% from last year. College football fared worse on Saturday, as the 2.2 for Mississippi/Alabama was down 39% from a 3.6 for Florida/Kentucky in ’07.
- FOX: FOX drew a strong 11.1/24 overnight rating for single game NFL coverage on Sunday, likely fueled by the Cowboys’ stunning loss to St. Louis. The 11.1 overnight marks a 23% increase from a 9.0 last year.
- NBC: Opposite Game 7 of the ALCS, Sunday Night Football plunged to an all-time record low for a prime time NFL game on broadcast. The 7.2 for Seahawks/Buccaneers was down 23% from a 9.4 for Steelers/Broncos in ’07, which also aired opposite a Game 7 in the ALCS.
- ABC: The battle between #11 Missouri versus #1 Texas gave ABC a decent boost on Saturday night, as the 3.6 overnight rating for Saturday Night Football was up 13% from a 3.2 last year. Meanwhile, the 4.2 overnight for early game coverage was even with ’07.
