Despite being a 44 point blowout, what was supposed to be a heavyweight matchup between Oklahoma and Texas Tech drew strong ratings on ABC Saturday night.
Saturday Night Football, featuring the Sooners’ 65-21 win over the Red Raiders, drew a 6.6/12 final rating and 10.7 million viewers, flat in ratings and down 2% in viewership from a 6.6 with 11 million for the comparable Missouri/Kansas clash in ’07.
The 6.6 rating makes Oklahoma/Texas Tech the third-highest rated college football game this year, behind Texas/Texas Tech earlier this month and Ohio State/USC in September.
So far this season, Saturday Night Football is averaging a 4.8 rating, up 23% from a 3.9 through the comparable date in ’07.
