- FOX: Giants/Cardinals drew a 16.2 overnight on FOX Sunday evening, up 12% from a 14.5 for the Broncos/Bears game on the comparable weekend last year, and the second-highest overnight of the season, behind a 16.8 for Cowboys/Giants earlier this month. Thanks in large part to their opponents, Cardinals’ games account for the second and third highest NFL overnight ratings this season (16.2 versus the Giants and a 16.1 versus the Cowboys).
- The early game on FOX drew an 8.9 overnight, off 22% from an 11.4 for comparable coverage in ’07, when the network only aired one game.
- CBS: The lone NFL telecast on CBS over the weekend drew a strong 11.6 overnight rating, up 53% from a 7.6 for comparable coverage last year, when the network aired a doubleheader. SEC coverage on Saturday, featuring Mississippi/LSU, drew a 2.5 overnight rating.
- NBC: For the second straight year, a Sunday night game featuring the Colts in San Diego was decided on a field goal. The 10.8 overnight for the Colts’ victory on the leg of Adam Vinatieri marks a 15% decline from a 12.7 for the exact same Sunday night matchup a year ago — when Vinatieri missed a potential game winning field goal — and a 31% drop from a 15.6 overnight for the Eagles/Patriots game on the comparable date in ’07.
- ABC: College football was a solid performer for ABC over the weekend. Oklahoma’s destruction of Texas Tech drew a 7.2 overnight on Saturday night, up 3% from last year, and tied as the third-highest overnight for a college football game this season. Ohio State’s blowout of Michigan drew a 5.1 overnight, a strong rating for a 12 PM game, while Michigan State/Penn State drew a 4.7, up 34% from the comparable game last year.
