Dramatic games have made the Warriors/Spurs series a strong TV draw for TNT — though the numbers still remain well below the Laker-fueled levels of past seasons.
Game 2 of the Warriors/Spurs second round NBA playoff series drew just over 5.3 million viewers on TNT Wednesday night, down 29% from Lakers/Thunder Game 2 last year (7.4M), and down 25% from Mavericks/Lakers Game 2 in 2011 (7.0M).
Despite the declines, Warriors/Spurs Game 2 ranks as the third-most viewed game of the playoffs on cable — trailing only Game 1 Monday (5.5M) and Bulls/Heat Game 1 the same night (5.5M).
Earlier in the night, Game 2 between the Bulls and Heat drew just under 5.3 million — up 42% from Celtics/Sixers Game 3 last year (3.7M), and up 1% from Hawks/Bulls Game 2 in 2011 (5.2M).
Considering the lopsided nature of the game, the numbers were quite impressive.
