Excitable CBS Sports announcer Gus Johnson had perhaps too much excitement during a stay in Memphis last weekend.
The Big Lead reports that Johnson was “handcuffed and in the backseat of a police car” early Saturday morning after a confrontation with a manager at a Memphis restaurant.
Johnson, in town to cover the Conference USA title game, “had become increasingly surly during his dining experience” at the Blues City Cafe Friday night, according to sources cited by The Big Lead. A restaurant employee eventually had to “[flag] down cops who were nearby and [tell] them a customer was being belligerent and had refused to leave.”
After being questioned by police, the restaurant manager declined to press charges. Johnson was released, and “was not taken to the police station.”
