TNT had a second-straight double-digit decline for the Thunder/Spurs Western Conference Finals.
Game 2 of the Thunder/Spurs NBA Western Conference Finals earned 5.7 million viewers on TNT Wednesday night, down 18% from Pacers/Heat last year (7.0M) and down 22% from Thunder/Spurs in 2012 (7.3M). Game 2 of last year’s Grizzlies/Spurs series drew 4.6 million on ESPN.
Thunder/Spurs Game 2 ranks as the least-viewed conference final telecast on TNT since 2008, when Spurs/Lakers Game 2 drew 5.5 million viewers. Only four conference final games on any network have earned a smaller audience post-2008 — each game of last year’s Grizzlies/Spurs series.
Despite the lower numbers, the game was the #4 program of the night on television among adults 18-49 (2.2). Only the finales of American Idol (2.6), Survivor (2.6) and ABC’s Modern Family (3.7) earned a better rating. Game 1, it should be noted, was Monday’s #2 program in the demo with a 2.7 rating.
