An unappealing Dolphins/Jets match-up continued a spate of double-digit declines for Monday Night Football.
The Week 13 Dolphins/Jets Monday Night Football game drew an 8.2 overnight rating on ESPN, down 23% from Saints/Seahawks last year (10.6) and down 29% from Giants/Washington in 2012 (11.6). MNF has now had a double-digit drop in overnights in four of the past five weeks.
For the season, 11 of 14 MNF telecasts have had declines in overnights. While four of those games ended up with an increase in final ratings, such a turnaround is highly unlikely for this week’s game.
Since the Washington/Cowboys game in Week 8, which earned one of the largest audiences in cable TV history, MNF has fallen into a slump. The five MNF games since Week 8 rank among the six lowest rated of the season in the metered markets.
