Overnight ratings for the Daytona 500 bounced back from lat year’s record low, but were still fairly soft.
The NASCAR Sprint Cup Daytona 500 earned a 7.3 overnight rating on FOX Sunday afternoon, up 30% from last year (5.6) but down 27% from 2013 (10.0). Last year’s race had a lengthy rain delay and concluded opposite the Olympics.
The 7.3 overnight is the third-lowest for the Daytona 500 since at least 2008 (overnights prior to 2009 were not available), ahead of only last year and 2010 (7.0) — both Olympic years in which the race experienced long delays.
Compared to other sports, the 7.3 overnight trailed all five games of last year’s NBA Finals and six of seven games of last year’s World Series.
