A mediocre NBA doubleheader delivered weak numbers on ABC.
The Bulls/Spurs NBA regular season game drew a 1.9 overnight rating on ABC Sunday afternoon, down 30% from Heat/Bulls last year and Celtics/Thunder in 2013 (2.7 both years), and the lowest overnight for any NBA game on ABC since Suns/Spurs in April 2011 (1.5).
The Bulls have played in three of the network’s five lowest rated games in the metered markets since 2011, a number matched only by the Clippers.
Speaking of, Clippers/Warriors drew a 2.3 overnight later in the day — down 15% from Thunder/Lakers sans-Kobe Bryant last year (2.7) and down 34% from Bulls/Lakers in 2013 (3.5). The 2.3 is tied as the lowest for ABC’s late afternoon window since Magic/Suns in March 2011 (1.7).
In other action, ESPN drew a 1.1 overnight for Mavericks/Warriors Friday night (-15%) and a 0.8 for Suns/Nets (+14%).
