Game 6 of the Angels/Yankees ALCS was postponed on Saturday, and nobody can be happier than FOX.
Angels/Yankees Game 6 has been rescheduled for Sunday night on FOX, due to rain. The move figures to dramatically benefit FOX, as Angels/Yankees has moved from the least-viewed night of the week (Saturday) to the most-viewed night (Sunday).
Sunday’s Game 6 will also have a direct lead-in from the NFL.
From 2002-08, Sunday night LCS games averaged a 7.2 rating, 24% higher than the 5.8 average for Saturday night LCS games. Keep in mind that Game 7 of the 2007 and 2008 ALCS aired on Sunday nights.
Last Saturday night, Game 2 of the ALCS drew a 5.8 rating, 93% higher than a 3.0 for Game 3 of the NLCS on Sunday night– though much of the disparity can be attributed to the ALCS game airing on broadcast (FOX) and the NLCS game airing on cable (TBS).
