Overnight (metered market) ratings by timeslot:
12:00 PM – 3:00 PM Sunday.
2.3/6: NBA on ABC, Cavaliers/Pistons
1.7/4: Poker on NBC (taped)
1.6/4: Jim Nantz Remembers Augusta (CBS)
1.4/4: NBA Countdown on ABC
0.9/2: NHL on NBC, Regional action.
- Cavaliers/Pistons was up 21% from a 1.9 for Pacers/Pistons last year. Still, the overnight is lower than the rating for last week’s Heat/Pistons game, which drew a 2.4 overnight and ended up with a 1.9 final rating.
- NBC continues to reap what it sows. Bad match-ups lead NHL coverage to a dismal 0.9 overnight. The game did outdraw the 0.7 overnight that an AFL game drew in the same timeslot last year, and was even with the 0.9 NHL coverage drew on the comparable weekend last year (though on a Saturday, not a Sunday).
3:00 PM – 6:00 PM Sunday.
9.1/21: The Masters on CBS, Final Round
2.6/6: NBA on ABC, Suns/Lakers
0.9/2: Champ Car World Series on NBC
- The Masters drew a 9.1/21, up barely from last year’s 9.0/19, but down 12% from the 10.3 the event drew in 2005 (when Tiger Woods last won).
- Suns/Lakers drew a 2.6 overnight, up 18% from the 2.2 Lakers/Kings and Knicks/Pacers drew on the comparable Sunday in 2005.
Saturday ratings.
6.1/13: The Masters on CBS, Third Round
2.7/6: MLB on FOX, Regional action.
1.0/2: Horse Racing on NBC
0.7/2: Cycling on NBC
0.6/1: MLS on ABC, Rapids/United
- The debut of Major League Soccer on ABC drew a paltry audience. A mere 0.6 overnight for the event signals that not even David Beckham may be able to stoke interest in soccer stateside.
- Baseball on FOX drew a 2.7 rating, higher than both NBA games on ABC this weekend. However, the 2.7 overnight is down 20% from last year’s season opener, which occurred on May 20.
- The third round of The Masters was up 5% from last year’s rain-delayed coverage.
