Ratings for PGA Tour golf continue to hit multi-year highs.
Final round coverage of the PGA Tour Canadian Open drew a 1.7 final rating and 2.5 million viewers on CBS last Sunday, up a tick in ratings and 8% in viewership from both last year and 2013 (1.6, 2.3M), and the highest rated and most-watched final round since 2011 (1.8, 2.5M).
The tournament ranks as the ninth of the season to at least tie a multi-year high for final round coverage.
Overall, 15 of the past 19 final round telecasts have had an increase in ratings — not including The Greenbrier Classic (for which a year-over-year comparison was not immediately available).
The previous day, third round action drew a 1.1 and 1.5 million — up 22% in ratings and 6% in viewership from last year (0.9, 1.4M) and up 10% and 3%, respectively, from 2013 (1.0, 1.4M). The telecast ranks as the most-watched third round of the Canadian Open since the event moved to broadcast in 2007.
