For only the second time this season, the SEC on CBS topped the college football charts.
The Tennessee/Alabama college football game drew a 4.2 overnight rating on CBS Saturday afternoon, up 50% from Texas A&M/Alabama last year (2.8) but down 7% from Auburn/Texas A&M in 2013 (4.5). The 4.2 is tied as the highest of the season for the SEC on CBS, matching Alabama/Georgia in week five.
The Crimson Tide’s narrow win earned the highest college football overnight of the weekend, finishing well ahead of second-place Ohio State/Rutgers on ABC (3.3). Head-to-head, it topped regional action on ABC by a full point (3.2). This is the first time since week four, and just the second time all season, that the SEC on CBS has topped the charts.
The telecast was also just the second of the season on CBS to have an increase in overnights, joining the previously mentioned Alabama/Georgia game.
