The undefeated Patriots boosted CBS to a season-high for the NFL singleheader.
The Week 7 NFL singleheader drew a 12.2 overnight rating on CBS Sunday afternoon, up 15% from last year (10.6), up 3% from coverage featuring Cowboys/Eagles on FOX in 2013 (11.8), and the highest of the season for the singleheader window on any network. The previous high was an 11.7, set in Weeks 1 and 5, and the previous CBS high was a 10.8 in Week 2.
The 12.2 is also the highest for the singleheader in Week 7 of the season since 2012 on FOX (12.8).
CBS does not release percentages for its NFL coverage, but the Patriots’ narrow win over the Jets was distributed to large portions of the country, including four of the top five markets — New York, Chicago, Philadelphia and Dallas-Ft. Worth.
Of note, Sunday’s singleheader drew a higher overnight than Thursday Night Football, which had an 11.5 on CBS and NFL Network combined. This is the second straight week that CBS has scored better numbers for an early Sunday afternoon game than for TNF.
