No Peyton Manning, no problem for NBC.
The Week 12 Patriots/Broncos Sunday Night Football game had a 16.2 overnight rating on NBC, up 16% from Cowboys/Giants last year (14.0) but down 5% from the same Broncos/Patriots matchup in 2013 (17.0). Overnights peaked at a 17.6 from 11:30 PM-Midnight ET.
The Broncos’ overtime win ranks as the highest rated SNF telecast in the metered markets since Week 2, when Seahawks/Packers pulled in a 16.3, and the fourth-highest of the season — behind Seahawks/Packers, Cowboys/Giants in Week 1 (16.7) and the Steelers/Patriots opener (17.7). It also marked the 12th time in 14 telecasts this season that NBC has had a year-over-year increase in the overnights.
Going back further, the 16.2 is the second-highest for SNF in Week 12 of the season — trailing only the 2013 Broncos/Patriots game.
Despite the strong performance, Patriots/Broncos was not the top NFL telecast of the day. CBS had a 16.7 for the Steelers/Seahawks national window. SNF has now trailed the national window in eleven straight weeks.
Locally, the game had a 48.6 rating in Denver and a 44.0 in Boston. In the latter market, it was the second-highest rated Patriots game on SNF. Providence ranked third (32.3), Albuquerque was the top neutral market with a 26.1, and Las Vegas rounded out the top five (23.1).
