Playoff implications could not overcome a pair of sub-.500 teams on Monday Night Football.
The Week 14 Giants/Dolphins Monday Night Football game earned a 7.4 final rating and 11.5 million viewers on ESPN, down 13% in ratings and 17% in viewership from Falcons/Packers last year (8.5, 14.0M), down 27% and 29%, respectively, from Cowboys/Bears in 2013 (10.2, 16.2M), and the lowest rated, least-watched MNF game in Week 14 of the season since since Rams/Seahawks in 2011 (6.2, 9.9M).
Ratings and viewership peaked at an 8.6 and 13.5 million from 9:45-10 PM ET.
The Giants’ win ranks third from the bottom among Monday Night Football games this season, ahead of only Bears/Chargers in Week 9 (7.3, 11.4M) and Ravens/Browns in Week 12 (6.5, 10.1M). It also marked the fifth time in eight weeks that ratings and viewership have dropped for a Monday night game.
Among adults 18-49, MNF scored a 3.8 rating — down 26% from last year (5.1) and down a third from 2013 (5.7). The 3.8 rating was still television’s highest of the night in the demo, topping The Voice on NBC (3.2).
