- Craig James: The ESPN college football analyst is apparently considering running for office. Dallas ABC affiliate WFAA-TV reports that James has been “making the rounds meeting prominent Texas Republicans and donors raising his political profile,” and that he has not ruled out running for the U.S. Senate seat soon to be vacated by Kay Bailey Hutchinson. James has been in the news lately for the scandal at Texas Tech involving his son and former coach Mike Leach. (Sports By Brooks)
- Mike Smith: The FSN Clippers analyst pleaded not guilty to felony grand theft charges on Thursday. Smith and a business partner were charged on December 21, after a “longtime friend” accused them of “stealing $735,000 … in a failed development deal.” Smith made headlines earlier this year when he and Clipper play-by-play voice Ralph Lawler were suspended for one game due to comments made about the Grizzlies’ Hamed Haddadi.
