An unusually poor Sunday Night Football matchup resulted in season-lows for NBC.
The Week 16 Giants/Vikings Sunday Night Football game had a 10.4 final rating and 17.9 million viewers on NBC, down 10% in ratings and 7% in viewership from Seahawks/Cardinals last year (11.5, 19.3M), down 6% and 2%, respectively, from Bears/Eagles in 2013 (11.0, 18.3M), and the lowest rated, least-watched Week 16 SNF game since Washington/Vikings in 2007 (8.7, 14.1M).
The Vikings’ blowout win earned the lowest rating and viewership on NBC this season (18 telecasts), falling below the previous marks of 10.5 for Cardinals/Eagles the previous week and 18.0 million for Bengals/Cardinals in Week 11.
After starting the season with increases for ten of its first 11 telecasts, NBC has now posted declines for five of its past seven — including four in a row.
Among adults 18-49, SNF scored a 5.8 rating — off 5% from last year’s 6.1 and down 7% from 2013 (6.2).
