Pushed to ESPN2 by the Pro Bowl, the Winter X Games saw significant declines in viewership on Sunday night.
Coverage of the Winter X Games drew 1.0 million viewers on ESPN2 Sunday night, down 42% from 1.8 million for last year’s comparable window on ESPN, which aired later in the night.
The game aired directly opposite the Pro Bowl on ESPN, which drew over 12 million viewers.
The event did far better the previous night. Saturday night coverage of the Winter X Games drew just under 2 million viewers on ESPN, good enough to rank as the #17 most-viewed program of the night on cable.
Friday night coverage drew 1.4 million viewers, off 3% from 1.5 million last year.
The Winter X Games were a big hit in the coveted young male demographics. Among Men 18-34, the X Games ranked #3 for the night on cable on both Friday and Saturday. In the Men 18-49 demo, the X Games was #3 on Friday and #4 on Saturday.
Sunday’s coverage on ESPN2 did not rank among the top 20 primetime cable programs in either demographic.
