Overnights were the lowest in five years for the PGA’s Quail Hollow stop.
Final round coverage of the PGA Tour Quail Hollow Championship had a 2.1 overnight rating on CBS Sunday afternoon, according to ShowBuzz Daily, and a 2.0 according to Sports Business Daily — either way a double-digit decline from last year (2.4) and a more modest dip from 2014 (2.2).
James Hahn‘s sudden-death victory had the event’s lowest final round overnight since at least 2011 (2.0).
The multi-year low continued a recent slump for PGA Tour coverage. Of the past ten rounds on broadcast television, not including last week’s washout at New Orleans, nine have had a decline in the overnights and eight of those nine have dropped by double-digits.
That includes Saturday’s third round, which had a 1.3 overnight — down 28% from last year (1.8) and down a tick from 2014 (1.4).
