One of the most well-liked and controversial sports broadcasters had another off-color moment on Thursday.
During Thursday’s TNT NBA Tip-Off pregame show, analyst Charles Barkley appeared to give host Ernie Johnson the middle finger during a discussion about Kobe Bryant‘s broken pinky.
Following video footage of Bryant’s pinky, Barkley asserted that every NBA player ends up with broken fingers, and his had “never been straight.” When Johnson subsequently asked Barkley to show his fingers, he held up his hand with his middle finger extended.
While Johnson, Smith and the crew laughed, Barkley quickly quipped “I’m sorry.”
Turner Sports offered a more formal apology on Friday morning. “Both the network and Charles apologize to anyone who was offended by his accidental gesture during our telecast.”
