Overnights dropped double-digits for NASCAR from Michigan. In other news, Bundesliga coverage plumbed the depths on FOX over the weekend, and horse racing’s Travers Stakes sank from last year’s high.
NASCAR Michigan Overnights Down
- NASCAR Sprint Cup racing from Michigan earned a 1.9 overnight rating on NBCSN Sunday afternoon, down 20% from last year (2.4) and down 37% from 2014 (3.0). Excluding rainouts, the 1.9 is the third-lowest for a Sprint Cup race this season — ahead of only Kentucky in July and Kansas in May (1.8 for each). (NBC Sports)
Bundesliga Plumbs the Depths on FOX
- FOX earned a 0.2 overnight rating for Saturday’s Borussia M’gladbach/Bayer Leverkusen Bundesliga match, possibly the lowest mark ever for a live sporting event on one of the “Big Four” broadcast networks. The match was quadrupled by competing coverage of the Hull City/Manchester United English Premier League match on NBC (0.8). (via Sports Business Daily)
Travers Stakes Drops From American Pharoah-High
- Horse racing’s Travers Stakes, part of the Breeders Cup Challenge, posted a 0.8 overnight rating on NBC Saturday afternoon, down 39% from last year — when Triple Crown winner American Pharoah came in second (1.3), but up a tick from 2014. (via SBD)
