Notre Dame’s upset loss to Duke scored a big increase in overnights on NBC. In other news, overnights sank for delayed college football on FOX, and MLB on FOX tied a season-low.
Solid Increase For Notre Dame Loss to Duke
- Saturday’s Duke/Notre Dame college football game had a 1.9 overnight rating on NBC, up 31% from UMass/Notre Dame last year (1.45) but down 10% from a primetime Purdue/Notre Dame game in 2014 (2.1). The Blue Devils’ upset win was nearly doubled head-to-head by Florida/Tennessee on CBS (3.7) and also trailed Penn State/Michigan on ABC (2.4).
FOX Posts Decline For Delayed Oklahoma State/Baylor Game
- FOX earned a 1.3 overnight rating for the delayed Oklahoma State/Baylor game Saturday night, down 38% from Utah/Oregon last year (2.1) and down 32% from West Virginia/Oklahoma in 2014 (1.9). The 1.3 is the lowest for a primetime game on FOX since Utah/Washington in week ten last year (1.1), no surprise given the start was delayed 90 minutes due to weather.
MLB on FOX Ties Season-Low
- Regional Major League Baseball action featuring Cardinals/Cubs in 80% of markets had a 1.1 overnight rating on FOX Saturday afternoon, down a tick from last year (1.2) and down 27% from 2014 (1.5). The 1.1 is tied as the lowest of the season on FOX.
