Aided by the return of Vikings QB Brett Favre, NBC drew another strong overnight for NFL preseason action.
Sunday’s Vikings/49ers NFL exhibition game, Favre’s first appearance of the preseason, drew a 7.2 overnight rating on NBC — down a tick from Bears/Broncos during Week 3 of last year’s preseason (7.3).
Overnight ratings peaked at an 8.1 from 8:30-9 PM ET.
Despite the slight decline, the 7.2 for Sunday’s game is tied as the third-highest overnight for an NFL preseason game since 2004, behind only last year’s aforementioned Bears/Broncos game and the Cowboys/Bengals Hall of Fame Game earlier this month (7.6).
Minneapolis-St. Paul led all markets with a 21.3 rating, followed by Sacramento (14.4), Milwaukee (14.1) and New Orleans (12.9). The Bay Area was fifth, with a 12.4 rating.
