NASCAR’s All-Star Race sank yet again.
Last Saturday’s NASCAR All-Star Race had a 1.6 final rating and 2.9 million viewers on Fox Sports 1, down 20% in ratings and 13% in viewership from lat year (2.0, 3.3M) and down 24% and 25% respectively from 2015 (2.1, 3.8M).
It was the lowest rated edition of the race since at least 1999 and the least-watched in at least a decade (viewership prior to 2007 was not available). Ratings for the All-Star Race have dropped for four straight years.
Excluding rainouts, 12 of the 14 Cup Series events this season — including Daytona Speedweeks — have declined from last year. Compared to 2015, every event has posted a decline in ratings and all-but-one has declined in viewership.
Head-to-head, the All-Star Race topped the competing Predators-Ducks NHL playoff game on NBC (1.4, 2.4M) and regional Major League Baseball action on FOX (1.5, 2.3M).
