NASCAR ended the Fox Sports portion of its schedule with yet another decade-plus low.
NASCAR Cup Series racing from Sonoma (Ca.) earned a 2.0 final rating and 3.2 million viewers on Fox Sports 1 Sunday afternoon, down 17% in ratings and viewership from last year (2.4, 3.9M) and down 13% in both measures from 2015 (2.3, 3.7M).
Kevin Harvick‘s win ranks as the lowest rated edition of the race since at least 1998 and the least-watched since at least 2002. As recently as five years ago, the race had a 3.3 and 5.2 million on TNT.
Sonoma completed a weak 2017 for NASCAR on Fox Sports. Not counting rainouts, all 15 Cup Series races have set or tied a multi-year ratings low and 12 have done so in viewership. Sonoma was the 13th race to at least tie a decade-plus or all-time ratings low, and the 11th to do so in viewership.
For the weekend, NASCAR ranked second among all sporting events (on a single network) behind the final round of the PGA’s Hartford Open (2.3, 3.5M).
