It was not a very good weekend for basketball on ABC, college or pro.
Sunday’s Kentucky/Florida SEC Tournament championship game earned a 1.8 overnight rating on ABC, down a third from last year (UK/MISS ST: 2.7, ABC), and down 14% from 2009 (TEN/MISS ST: 2.1, CBS).
Excluding the 2008 game, which aired on ESPN2, this marks the lowest overnight for the SEC Tournament championship game since 2007 (UF/SC: 1.7, CBS).
Overnight ratings also declined for Saturday’s semifinal games.
In the early game, Kentucky/Alabama earned a 1.1 overnight, down 31% from last year (UK/TEN: 1.6). Later in the day, Florida/Vanderbilt also drew a 1.1, down 8%.
