- Dan Patrick: The longtime ESPN anchor and host of The Dan Patrick Show and NBA Countdown, subject of a myriad of rumors in the past several days — including a rumor that he would take over hosting duties on The Price is Right — has confirmed on his radio show that he is leaving ESPN on August 17. Patrick is the most high profile personality to leave ESPN/ABC since Al Michaels eighteen months ago. More on this later.
- Bill Maas: The occasional FOX NFL analyst “will not be coming back to Fox in any capacity” after he was arrested and charged with illegal drug possession and unlawful use of a weapon. Police found “a .22-caliber revolver, 5 grams of suspected marijuana, 6 grams of suspected cocaine and 28 pills of Ecstasy” when they pulled Maas over on Friday.
- Reggie Jackson: The former New York Yankee is miffed at ESPN for not being “consulted about the script of the eight-episode series” The Bronx is Burning, which premieres on the network tomorrow night. The series focuses on the 1977 Yankees, of which Jackson was a part.
