So much for Red Sox Nation.
The Red Sox/Rockies World Series drew the second-lowest average rating ever for the event, ahead of only last year’s series between the Cardinals and Tigers. The series averaged a 10.6 rating, and included the second lowest rated World Series game of all time — Game 3, which drew an 8.5 rating.
While the 2007 World Series was just shy of a record low, the 5% increase in ratings marked the first time in three years World Series ratings increased. Additionally, the 10.6 average is higher than the 10.1 for the Daytona 500 and the 6.2 for the Spurs/Cavs NBA Finals.
Surprisingly, the clinching game of this series drew a lower rating than the clinching game of the 2005 Astros/White Sox World Series, which is now the third-lowest rated World Series ever.
