NFL Schedule: ESPN to End Season With Saturday Night Game

For the first time since acquiring rights to ‘Monday Night Football,’ ESPN will air a regular season game on another night of the week.

The 2012-13 ‘Monday Night Football’ schedule features sixteen Monday night games and one Saturday night matchup. To avoid airing a game on Christmas Eve, ESPN will televise Falcons/Lions — the network’s season finale — on Saturday, December 22.

The Saturday game is the only new wrinkle in ESPN’s schedule, which kicks off with the now-customary Week 1 doubleheader. This year, the Bengals will face the Ravens in the early game, while the Chargers take on the Raiders in the late matchup.

ESPN gets Peyton Manning and the Broncos in Week 2, when they take on the Falcons. The game will be one of two appearances for the Broncos.

Other noteworthy matchups include the Cowboys’ lone appearance of the season against the Bears on October 22, and an Eagles/Saints game on November 5, the night before the U.S. presidential election.
