Dan Patrick has met with NBC Sports Chairman Dick Ebersol, reports Larry Stewart of the Los Angeles Times. While the focus of their discussion was not divulged, one presumes that the two met to discuss a position with NBC Sports. While Patrick’s contract with ESPN precludes him from taking a job with another television network “any time soon, possibly as long as a year“, there is the possibility that NBC may be looking to add Patrick to its roster.
Could NBC pair Patrick with Keith Olbermann on Football Night in America? Not for this NFL season; but Patrick would likely be available by the start of the 2008 season — the first season NBC will air the Super Bowl as part of the most recent television contract. Obviously, this is highly premature, though the possibility of the ‘Big Show’ being reunited is an intriguing one — and certainly one that would draw a large amount of publicity to NBC if it happens.
In the meantime, Patrick says he is “in no hurry” to start his new syndicated radio gig with The Content Factory, and also states that he does not know when the show will start. Previously, Jimmy de Castro — founder of The Content Factory — said he hoped the show would start on September 9.
