MLB action involving the three largest television markets in the country drew a 2.0 rating for FOX on Saturday. Dodgers/Mets and Red Sox/White Sox was down 13% from a 2.3/6 last season, marking the ninth straight week Major League Baseball has drawn declining ratings on FOX — dating back to the Saturday before the All Star Break. To put that in perspective, the last time FOX drew a rating even with or higher than the comparable rating last season, neither Michael Vick nor Tim Donaghy was in the news, and the Portland Trailblazers were still deciding on who to pick in the NBA Draft.
MLB on FOX was beaten in its own timeslot by the U.S. Championship Game of the Little League World Series, which drew a 2.2 rating. The World Championship of the Little League World Series, which aired on Sunday, drew a rating 65% higher than the number for the FOX Game of the Week.
Through 21 of 26 telecasts this season, FOX is averaging a 2.4 rating.
