World Series ratings are up from last year’s record low numbers.
Through two games, the 2007 World Series is averaging a 10.8/18 rating, up 10% from the 9.8 average for the first two games of the 2006 World Series. The 10.8 average is the fourth lowest of all-time for the first two games of the World Series, ahead of the 2006, 2005 and 2002 Fall Classics — each of which set a record low.
Game 2 of the series between the Colorado Rockies and Boston Red Sox drew an 11.1/18 rating on Thursday night, down 4% from the 11.6/18 rating for Game 2 of the Detroit Tigers/St. Louis Cardinals World Series in 2006. Game 2 of the ’06 World Series aired on a Sunday night, typically the most watched night of the week.
Both games have helped FOX win the night. On the strength of the performance by the World Series, FOX could win the week on broadcast as well.
