NBA TV continues to reap the rewards of its new partnership with Turner Broadcasting.
Charles Barkley, the star attraction on TNT’s popular Inside the NBA studio show, is close to resigning with Turner, in a deal that would result in the former NBA star making appearances on NBA TV. It is unknown what role Barkley will have on NBA TV.
The Sports Business Daily reports Turner is prepared to offer Barkley “mid-seven figures per year for at least the next four years.”
This would mark the second time in a month that a major name in NBA broadcasting has signed an agreement to work on TNT and NBA TV. Last month, the voice of the NBA, Marv Albert signed a deal with TNT that will allow him to call games for NBA TV beginning next season.
With Albert and Barkley — the two most high profile members of TNT’s NBA team — now contractually obligated to appear on NBA TV, look for other familiar faces to pop up on the network next season.
