- The 2008-09 NBA season will start with a bang. ESPN will televise its first ever regular season triple-header on Wednesday, October 29, with games at 5:30, 8:00 and 10:30 PM. The tripleheader could air opposite Game 6 of the World Series. The season officially begins the night before on TNT.
- The NHL has announced the site of the next Winter Classic. Wrigley Field in Chicago will host the third outdoor game in league history, which will pit the Chicago Blackhawks against the defending champion Detroit Red Wings. NBC will air the game on New Year’s Day at 1:00 PM ET. The entire 2008-09 NHL schedule will be released tomorrow.
- The two-part FOX News interview between Greta Van Susteren and Brett Favre essentially started with an e-mail from Favre’s wife Deanna. An hour before going on the air on Saturday, Van Susteren received an e-mail from Deanna Favre. Van Susteren tells TV Newser, “I called Deanna and she said Brett wants to talk and he believes Packer management is only giving out part of the story … I said fine, I’ll be there Monday and she said great.”
