- CBS: Ratings were down for both NFL windows on CBS Sunday. The national Chargers/Steelers game at 4:15 drew a 14.3/27 overnight, down 16% from a 17.0 for Dallas/Washington on FOX last year. Meanwhile, the 10.0 overnight for the early game was off 12% from an 11.4 for comparable coverage on the network in ’07.
- While NFL coverage was down from last year, CBS saw a solid boost for its SEC coverage on Saturday. South Carolina/Florida drew a 3.7/8 overnight rating, up 28% from a 2.9 for LSU/Ole Miss in ’07. The 2.2 overnight for the Notre Dame/Navy early game was off 15% from a 2.6 for the same game in ’06, the last time the teams played on CBS.
- NBC: The presence of the Dallas Cowboys boosted NBC’s ratings to near season-high levels on Sunday night. Dallas/Washington drew a 13.5/20 overnight rating, up 25% from a 10.8 for last year’s Patriots/Bills game, and the second-highest overnight of the season for a Sunday night game.
- FOX: The 11.2 overnight for the lone NFL telecast on FOX Sunday afternoon was up 15% from a 9.7 for coverage in the same timeslot a year ago, when the network aired a doubleheader.
- ABC: Thanks to a lackluster slate of regional matchups, ratings for Saturday Night Football fell back to earth. The 3.5 overnight rating for Boston College/Florida State or Oklahoma State/Colorado marks a 3% decline from a 3.6 for Oklahoma/Texas Tech last year, and is the second-lowest overnight of the season for Saturday Night Football. Early game coverage was down even further, as the 3.4 overnight for regional coverage was down 23% from a 4.4 last year.
