Final round coverage on Sunday, which featured Stewart Cink winning in a playoff over Tom Watson, drew a 3.9 overnight, up 11% from last year’s 3.5. Despite the increase, the 3.9 is the second-lowest overnight for the final round of the British Open since at least ’98. Meanwhile, third round coverage on Saturday drew a 2.4, down 14% from last year’s 2.8.
- Like ABC, NBC saw mixed results for its golf coverage over the weekend. Sunday coverage of the American Century Championship drew a 1.0 overnight rating, down 9% from last year’s 1.1. Coverage on Saturday drew a 1.0 as well, up 25% from a 0.8 in ’08.
