- Team USA’s victory over Australia in the championship of the World Cup of Softball drew a 0.5 U.S. rating (0.6 cable) and 797,000 viewers on ESPN2 July 20. The 0.5 rating marks a 38% drop from a 0.8 U.S. rating for the ’07 championship. The final could not match a game two nights earlier between the USA and Japan, which drew a 0.7 (0.8 cable) and 1 million viewers on ESPN.
- The knockout stage of the 2009 Gold Cup (quarterfinals, semifinals and finals) averaged a 1.3 rating and 2.7 million viewers on Univision and Telefutura. The highest rated match was the semifinal between Mexico and Costa Rica (2.5 rating), while the most-viewed match was the Mexico/USA final (5.4 million viewers).
- The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series AAA Insurance 200 drew 870,000 viewers on Speed Channel on July 24. The race topped the most viewed stage of the Tour de France (792,000), the WNBA All-Star Game (519,000), the MLS All-Star Game (484,000) and the IRL Rexall Edmonton Indy (402,000).
