Though down from last year, CBS still drew strong numbers for coverage of the SEC on Saturday.
CBS drew a 4.7 overnight rating for Saturday’s Florida/South Carolina game, the second half of an SEC doubleheader on the network. The 4.7 is off 15% from a 5.5 for Alabama/LSU last year, but marks a 7% increase over last week’s game, which also featured LSU and Alabama.
The 4.7 overnight is the lowest of the season for a Florida Gators game on CBS — though only barely. Three Gators telecasts on CBS have drawn a 4.8 overnight, while a fourth (a primetime battle against LSU) drew a 6.8.
Despite the decline, Florida/South Carolina drew the highest overnight of the weekend for a college football game on broadcast.
Earlier in the day, Tennessee/Mississippi drew a 2.4 overnight rating, the second-lowest of the season for any college football telecast on CBS. Only Arkansas/Alabama in September drew a lower overnight (2.2).
