FOX drew a massive overnight rating for the Yankees’ return to glory on Wednesday night.
Phillies/Yankees Game 6, won by the Yankees to clinch the team’s 27th World Series title, drew a 15.5 overnight rating on FOX Wednesday night, up 16% from a 13.4 for the conclusion of Rays/Phillies Game 5 on the comparable night last year. The overnight rating for Marlins/Yankees Game 6 in ’03 — the last Game 6 in the World Series — were not available.
The 15.5 overnight rating is the second highest for any World Series game since ’04.
Additionally, the 15.5 overnight is the third-highest of 2009 for any non-NFL sporting event, behind only the BCS National Championship Game in January (17.0), and Game 4 of Yankees/Phillies on Sunday (15.6).
This is the highest overnight for a clinching game in the World Series since 2004.
In primetime (8-11 PM), Game 6 of the World Series drew a 15.2 overnight — beating ABC, CBS and NBC combined.
