The first basketball game at the Cowboys’ new stadium attracted a solid audience on ESPN Saturday.
Saturday’s North Carolina/Texas game drew a 2.1 U.S. rating and 3 million viewers on ESPN, making the game the highest rated, most-viewed college basketball telecast of the season on any network.
The game stands as the most-viewed October to December college basketball game on ESPN since Ohio St./North Carolina in ’06.
So far this season, ESPN is averaging a 0.9 U.S. rating and 1.2 million viewers for men’s college basketball coverage, up 13% and 10%, respectively, from last year (0.8, 1.1 mil).
