A historic victory boosted the viewership for the Professional Bowling Association Tournament of Champions.
The PBA H&R Block Tournament of Champions drew 1.8 million viewers on ESPN Sunday, up 46% from last year (1.2 mil). The 1.8 million viewers is the “second-largest audience in the past 10 years” for the PBA on ESPN.
The event was won by Kelly Kulick, who became the first woman to ever win a PBA title.
Compared to other ESPN programs on Sunday, the PBA telecast finished behind Sunday NFL Countdown (3.2 mil), but ahead of NFL Primetime (1.6 mil).
To put the numbers in perspective, NBA games on TNT and ESPN are averaging 1.8 and 1.7 million viewers, respectively, and Major League Baseball games on ESPN averaged 1.6 million last season.
