Outside of the NFL, figure skating was the top draw among sporting events on broadcast last weekend.
Airing opposite the Jets/Chargers Divisional Round game, coverage of the Men’s Free Skate at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships drew a 1.8 overnight rating on NBC Sunday afternoon.
The 1.8 marks a 22% decline from last year (2.3), when coverage did not air opposite NFL games.
Despite the decline, the 1.8 overnight was the highest of the weekend for a non-NFL sporting event on broadcast.
On Saturday, coverage of the Pairs Free Skate and the Men’s Short Program drew a 1.4 overnight, the second-highest of the weekend for a non-NFL sporting event on broadcast.
