The Blue Devils had CBS feeling anything but blue on Saturday night.
Duke’s win over West Virginia drew a 10.0/18 overnight rating on CBS Saturday night, up 8% from North Carolina/Villanova last year (9.3/17), and up 10% from Kansas/North Carolina in ’08 (9.1/16).
The 10.0 overnight is the highest for the late National Semifinal since North Carolina/Michigan St. in ’05 (11.4/19).
Excluding National Championship games, this is the only college basketball game in the past five years to draw a double-digit overnight rating.
For perspective, the last time Duke played in a National Semifinal, the game drew a 10.3/18 overnight (2004, Connecticut/Duke).
Compared to other sporting events, Saturday’s game drew a higher overnight than three of the five games of the NBA Finals (Games 1, 2 and 5), and three of the five BCS bowls (Orange, Sugar and Fiesta).
